Bingo Night Live Sets World Record

In the UK, terrestrial broadcaster ITV broke the Guinness World Record for the number of people playing online bingo at the same time with one lucky participant walking away with £60,000.

As part of its Bingo Night Live game regularly broadcast on television throughout the nation, ITV revealed that 59,392 players participated on October 10 to set a new world record with the lucky player ‘Michael’ from Margate, Kent, taking home the top prize.

ITV launched Bingo Night Live in June and all of its games are regulated by the UK Gambling Commission. The free game game is split into four games of bingo on either green, purple, orange or blue cards with each fronted by game callers Anthony Crank or Michael Underwood. Prizes are awarded for one or two lines alongside the Golden Jackpot prize, which starts at £25,000 on launch night, for a full card with less than 32 numbers called .

At various points in each game, the various games are stopped and statistician Nichola Dixon provides player statistics, lucky star signs, facts and figures.

“An extra congratulations to us and all of that Friday’s players too as together we set the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest online bingo game,” read a statement on ITV.com.

“The number of players almost matched our jackpot, with over 58,000 of you getting in on the record-making action. All valid players will soon receive a certificate by e-mail confirming their participation so you’ll all get a little bit of Bingo Night Live history of your very own.

“A big thank you to all our players for making our massive giveaway show extra special.”
